Now for something completely different – some GOOD news for a change

by Anna Blanch on August 7, 2008

Sick of reading and hearing about doom, gloom, murder, mayhem, and other catastophes? Would you like to read about the good news aspect of mainstream current events and popular culture? Would you like to read a ‘blogosphere’ version of fresh flowers?

Kimberley Gengler looks at the cheerier side of life, or at least takes an optomistic view of world events. Her blog The Cheerful Scoop made me stop and thnk. I mean who doesn’t want to hear about the teenage girl who survived a fourteen story fall from the top of a New York apartment building (yes, that really was 14), that Gorilla populations have increased, even if only slightly, or that in the midst of earthquake chaos in LA residents can be reassured that the energy grid is unaffected.

Good news stories may not sell, but this little blog – which sources its stories from mainline media like Reuters, CNN, BBC, Associated Press – made my day a little brighter!
