Multi tasking, skimming, and how I am adding to the problem!

by Anna Blanch on November 6, 2008

I am an inveterate multi-tasker. I readily ascribe to the theory that women can do multiple things at once and I test it on a regular basis! I regularly talk on the phone, watch Tv, or listen to music, while reading articles and books, cooking dinner, or cleaning; I check emails while listening to music updating this blog, or making a cup of tea. I move around my apartment trying efficiently to do 10 things at the same time – straighten up the lounge room by moving from one end of it to the other, collecting materials for the next day, organising and cleaning. Members of my family have even been know to clean the bathroom while bathing (I am fully aware that this may be too much information). But as they say in any good recovery program, the first step to recovery is to admit you have a Problem.

If this article by Ken Myers abstracting some recent research on the damage being done to our attention spans by search engines and other such dangerous phenomenon as blogs is correct, I have a major problem!!
