These are a few of my Favourite things

by Anna Blanch on September 20, 2009

’cause I can and it was recently my birthday which should give a woman like me a chance to exercise her perogative it is time to remix “My Favourite things.” This is a birthday tradition for me!

Besides I love the song and this year for the first time in a number of years I was in the same country as my family to celebrate my birthday!

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,
bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens
brown paper packages tied up with strings,
these are a few of my favorite things.

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels,
door bells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles.
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings.
these are a few of my favorite things.

There, now that we are all in the appropriate mood. I shall get down to business. Have I told you lately how much I love beauty. It makes me even more in awe of the one who instilled in me this love for the beautiful. I have a friend who has decided to make beauty the subject of her academic study. Look forward to reading some lovely words by her here soon – in the next few months at least!

See, there I go off on a tangent again!

Now, where were we? oh, yes. Beauty.

  • There is nothing like the beauty of Fresh flowers! I love lillies most of all, but really fresh flowers of almost any kind are sure to evoke a smile – tulips, gerberas, roses, hibuscus, waratahs. My grandparent’s Rose Garden is one of my favourite places in all the world and it gives me joy to be able to enjoy it at the moment! I shall have to post a photo or two!
  • Moleskins – not only does the name make me smile. See, in Australia Moleskins are not just beuatiful, elegant, simple books in which to write your great America/English/insert nationality here novel, but are also work wear worn to prevent getting soaked. I think both are beautiful in their own way.

You can read more at My Favourite things.

As for me, I have get back to (re)packing. My travels to Scotland from Australia commence tomorrow!
