Some Folks You Need to Meet: Jennifer Linkous

by Anna Blanch on December 13, 2009

The second cab off the rank in my series on Some Folks you Need to Meet and the 12 days of Community is Jennifer Linkous. She’s the author of Twelve Steps Closer and a member of Highcallingblogs. I asked Jennifer some questions to get to know the what and why of her blog!

Tell me about your blog?
12sc began as I stepped into a leadership role in the recovery support group at my church. I was learning so much in the Word, and I only had 15 minutes to share it each week. Since it’s begining two years ago, it’s morphed more into a general journal on Christian living, spiritual growth, the fight against poverty and hunger, and battling depression as a child of God. I also throw in some family life, goofy haiku-like poetry, and an occasional work of art that gets created around my house.

Is there anything in particular that has captured your imagination in the last week?
Last weekend I volunteered at a Shane & Shane concert. My job was to stand at the World Vision booth and help folks find a child they would like to sponsor. This concert was in the middle of Virginia Tech, so a majority of the audience was in the 18-25 age range. During the show, we passed out all of the profile folders we had (over 500) and Shane Barnard led us all in praying for the child we held by name. I loved that. I also loved that we got so many children sponsored. I loved that I got to be a part of it all, with the added bonus that I got to hear some really good music!

Is there a post or two that epitomizes what you write about
Little Bit of Revelation
It’s not a TUMOR

How long have you been part of highcalling?
I joined a little over a year ago.

Why did you join?
It is a great place to find excellent Christian writing. I love discovering new voices in the Christian blogging community.

Is there a blog or two from the network you’d recommend?

I really appreciate Jennifer taking the time to answer some questions. I encourage you to take a look at 12stepscloser for something a little different.
