The Precious Light

by Anna Blanch on February 11, 2010

“The shortest day has passed, and whatever nastiness of weather we may look forward to in January and February, at least we notice that the days are getting longer. Minute by minute they lengthen out. It takes some weeks before we become aware of the change. It is imperceptible even as the growth of a child, as you watch it day by day, until the moment comes when with a start of delighted surprise we realize that we can stay out of doors in a twilight lasting for another quarter of a precious hour.”
– Vita Sackville-West

I am a visual person. That is, I learn and am inspired by visual images! As the amount and quality of light here in beautiful Scotland starts to welcome the lighter days of winter…the days that Vita Sackville-West looks forward to…I am inspired by the beauty of the warm afternoon light, the brighter blue of the ocean.

Some of the blogs and websites I have been looking to lately for inspiration are visual feasts.

Melissa Blake at So About What I said…

WE HEART IT – a tumblr group where people link to images they like and which inspire them.

The Drifter and the Gypsy for her beautiful photography: especially Apples and Ballet

The English Muse who is not english but whose writing and photos and general sense inspires me.

RedLetterWords for their canvas prints, and for ideas.

You are most welcome Melissa. In fact, you'll notice that almost all the other blogs i mention are in your blogroll. I guess that's because inspiration keeps good company!
