Year 2004-
I was the first person she saw on University Move-In-Day.
I reassured her with a smile saying “Registration…? This way!”
Dark tresses, honey skin – a contrast to the Southern-Belles galore.
We became “just friends” but I soon knew there was something more.
Her heart was guarded but I persisted still, knowing it was worth the start.
Oh the joy when she felt the same, she still captivates my heart!
This Southern boy has found his Indian Princess- his best friend, indeed.
In a Scottish castle, I proposed to the love of my life, smiling again on bended knee.
This is the way the contest works: They’ve have uploaded a profile describing our story (the poem above!), their wedding dream, and their perfect day. From now until March 31, 2010, people can vote for their profile.
If they are in the top 50 profiles, they make it to the next round where a panel of judges will pick the Grand Prize winner. Of course, in order to have a good chance at the Grand Prize, they probably need to make it to the top 5-10 list.
They were asked to describe their dream day together (not their wedding day) and this was their description:
For much of our relationship, geography has separated us – domestically and internationally. This summer, Drew will graduate seminary at Duke Divinity School, and I’ll conclude my studies in International Strategy and Economics at the University of St. Andrews (Scotland). After joyously spending the week serving the global community through our disciplines, we look forward to a sun-drenched Saturday together. Alabama football with loved ones, a picnic, impromptu singing and guitar strumming, a nap in the shade while Drew reads theology, a grueling game of ultimate Frisbee, a night on the town- ANY day spent together is a dream day!
