A new kind of post

by Anna Blanch on July 3, 2010

The next couple of months are going to be fairly hectic. I am going to try a new style of post. It’ll be a little more mundane and less big picture than usual, my blogging will instead be more about what I’m preparing for, writing about, thinking about, or seeing. Hopefully, this will be a more creative style of post. I am still working on a whole slew of posts in The Basics series and I really appreciate all the links and suggestions I’ve been receiving lately. I’ve also been hearing that IntenseDebate is not working for some readers in Firefox. I’m trying to find out why (i use firefox too and don’t have the glitch) – i’ve been told it could be because of a plug-in that some how interferes with intensedebate but i haven’t confirmation of that.

Between now and the end of September I will be traveling from Scotland to (at least): Ely, Cambridge, St Andrews, Edinburgh, Paris, Rouen, Dinan, maybe Zurich, London, Glasgow, St Andrews, Dublin, Oxford. Anyway you look at it it will be hectic. Also, all the travel (except for Dublin) is somehow work related, be it a research trip, a conference or three, or language learning. It is exciting and exceedingly daunting. I am looking forward to trying to fit in some lovely restful weekends with friends amongst the chaos of writing three conference papers simultaneously and a PhD chapter…but i’m going to give it my best shot and try to to maintain a calm and relaxed demeanour in the process.

I enjoy traveling but I also only moved a month ago and I have been relishing having a home again to enjoy. It has struck me how much of a home-body I really am!

I hope you’ll join me on this crazy ride. In the meantime, here’s a shot I took last weekend on the beach
