Today I was thinking about the things that are most important to me and the way in which my physical surroundings show that – like the framed photos that adorn the cottage-by-the-sea, the objects that I’ve taken with me from continent-to-continent, and the way I denote what is “home.”
I don’t have much more to say about that at the moment. maybe soon. In the meantime:
I heart infographics.
Here’s some that are a fair representation of what occupies my mind and heart:

That one was from November 2009. I wanted to make one for today, but I couldn’t make the application work!
Instead, here’s a wordle for this blog (you’ll need to click on it and enlarge it to see the detail):
And here I was thinking I don’t write enough about the content of my research! Apparently, I do… I created one for my PhD too, but then wordle.net (the great FREE app I used to create the second image) got all funky on me.
I’m still thinking about home and place and I completely blame all the conversations I’ve been having about this with my friend (and colleague) Jenn Craft whose research is on place and place-making. Can one really be “at home” where you’re “out of place”? I try to be, hence the cottage-by-the-sea and the desire to make a home wherever I am.
What makes your heart sing?
